Sales Tax

Businesses may add sales tax (GST, HST, VAT etc) to the cost of their products. Sales tax can be added onto the total price or included in the total price and will be displayed during the client online payment process and on client invoices.

How do I add sales tax?

1.	Go to My Settings > Sales Tax
2.	Enter the desired % rate
3.	Save Changes to confirm

If your business is not required to charge sales tax, leave this field empty.

Sales tax added onto the price

By default, Bookamat will display the sales tax amount as an additional amount on top of the item price. For example, if the item price is set to $100 and a 10% sales tax rate is applied, the total amount due will be $110 ($100 + $10).

Sales tax included in the price

To show the sales tax amount included in the item price, ensure the ‘Include Sales Tax?’ check box is ticked. When sales tax is included in the price, the following calculation is used: Sales Tax = r/(100+r)*(Total cost). For example, if the item price is set to $100 and a 10% sales tax rate is applied, the total amount due will be $100 which includes $9.90 tax.
